Case booked on star hero for land grabbing

Popular Tamil star Madhavan has been booked for allegedly encroaching unclaimed government land and obstructing irrigation and drinking water source and the godown that is used to store seeds and grains. Local farmers have filed a case on the 3 Idiots star with the Collector of Dindigul  in Tamil Nadu.

Recently, Madhavan bought 7 acres of land in Kodaikanal, where majority of the lands are owned by film stars and politicians. However, Madhavan landed himself into a legal tangle as his land falls near a canal that supplies irrigation and drinking water from Kodaikanal waterfalls. Madhavan allegedly installed an electric fence around the canal, which irked the farmers who own 50 acres of teak plantations and their livelihood is dependent on the canal.

A farmer, while complaining to the Dindigul Collector, alleged that local authorities are acting as Madhavan's agents and are forcing them to sell off their lands and farms to the actor, saying that he would pay them more than the market price. The Collector has asked the revenue and irrigation department to submit a detailed report. The actor is yet to comment on this issue.
