As we all know, 'Lingaa' did a very poor show at Box-Office. Lots of distributors claimed Rajinikanth to reimburse their money invested and incur their losses. Rajini too interfered and provided a sum of Rs.10 Crores. Now this seems to affect 'Paayum Puli' release as the movie is produced by Vendhar movies.
The distributors later demanded 12 more Crores and started various protests on the actor. But Vendhar movies who distributed 'Lingaa' confessed the movie was never a loss. This also caused rage on the company.
As the refund amount has not reached most of the theatres, the theatre owners association has decided to boycott the release of 'Paayum Puli'. As the official ban of Vishwaroopam has resulted in a legal tangle at CCI (Competition Commission of India), this time TNTOA has issued an indirect ban.
A press statement from TFPC reads as, "If TNTOA doesn’t lift the ban, we will be seeking Tamil Nadu Government’s intervention and help in this issue."
