Photo Story: Someone Switched Smog on Beijing

Here is proof of what vehicular pollution can do to cities! Chain capital Beijing is one of the most polluted cities in the world. Recently the officials imposed the ban on vehicular movement in the view of military parade to mark the 70th anniversary of Japan's defeat in World War II .

Officials cleaned up Beijing's air in advance of the parade by imposing suspend on  the operations of 12,255 coal-burning boilers, factories and cement-mixing stations.

As a result, the air quality index has come down from 500 to 17 and the skyscrapers were clearly visible on the horizon. After the parade ban was removed on the vehicular movement. Now with in less than 24 hours later, a blanket of noxious smog once again covered the city leaving all people in surprise. It was as if somebody had flipped a switch.
