In a few hours, the first ever Premiere of Akhil Akkineni's debut flick "Akhil" is going to be screened. It's time to talk about the pre-release business of the film, and how much recovery from box office would make distributors breathe easy.
In Andhra Pradesh, the film got sold to various distributors for around 17 crores, while Ceeded fetched 6+ crores and Nizam is being released by producer Sudhakar Reddy (Nitin's father) himself, whose value could be accounted to 10 crores nearly. That makes the film sold out for 33 crores in Telugu states alone. Overseas rights are sold for nearly 4 crores and Karnataka rights also fetched the same amount. Including the 2 crores that was obtained by selling Malayalam and Tamil distribution rights, Akhil managed to grab Rs 43-44.5 crores from theatrical rights.
So, the film has to fetch anything above 44.5 crores to be termed as a hit and Akhil needs to get a smashing opening with 30+ crores weekend to make it big.
