Vampire Academy star Zoey Deutch has joined Danny Strong's Rebel in the Rye, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
Nicholas Hoult will play J.D. Salinger in the indie, which chronicles about the birth of the author's classic The Catcher in the Rye novel. Deutch will play Oona O'Neill, the daughter of legendary playwright Eugene O'Neill.
The film is an adaptation of Kenneth Slawenski biography, J.D. Salinger: A Life. Strong, who wrote the screenplay for Rebel in the Rye, will also direct the film.
J.D. Salinger during his celebrated career achieved the heights of the literary world, but left it all behind for a life of seclusion.
Black Label Media is financing with Molly Smith, Trent Luckinbill and Thad Luckinbill producing alongside Bruce Cohen, Jason Shuman and Strong.
